exporting to stl a single component doesn't reflect all changes..

something strange, when i export a component as an stl, not all the changes are passed, even though i can see them, but if i export the BODY of the component i see the changes..

Hi @elh.maayan

Thanks for posting! It looks like you are experiencing an issue when exporting components as STL files.

What changes are you making to the component, and are you referring to being able to see them in Fusion before exporting the file? Also, has this behavior been occurring whenever you export any component from any design, or is it only occurring in specific files.

It may help me troubleshoot this issue if you could create a screencast illustrating the behavior you are experiencing and attach a Fusion 360 design in which this is experiencing to this Forum thread (or as a public link in a private message if you'd prefer). I'm happy to have a look!

looks like i cannot reproduce this thing, but i suspect it may due to the fact that when i move whole components i actually used bodies and not the componenets, this occured to me after i saw my sketches appear somewhere else, then the body itself.

i couldn't trace this down, i kept printing models i never noticed there was no change, then suddenly i noticed, that certain feature changes i've made like press/pull would show up on an stl produced from a body but on an stl produced from a component.

i should also add that fusion also crashed 2-3 times while i was working on it.

Hi @elh.maayan

Thanks for the response! It is unfortunate that you experienced this issue, but I am glad that you have it seems to be working now.

I had a look at your crash reports and it looks like the crash you experienced was due to a known defect, FUS-30107. This defect, however, is associated with the Mesh workspace and should have been resolved in the March 1st update, so I am thinking that it is an incorrect report.

Hopefully you will not continue to experience this problem, but please let me know if you do! I am happy to continue troubleshooting if we are able to find a reliable workflow with which to recreate this behavior.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

i'm hoping it's not, it's very troubling, cause i've wasted many hours and plastic before i got it, this is because we are talking about very fine tuning of 1-2 mm, so i kept thinking it might be due to printer inaccuracies.

i should also i tend to keep fusion on all the time during the day at home, but when i get back home, and focus on the window it takes a long while till it "wakes" up freezing the window.

Hi @elh.maayan

Thanks for the response! It seems like 1 to 2mm could be printer error, but it is hard to be sure without knowing your printer.

Also, because STL files approximate the solid bodies created in Fusion rather than copy them over identically, this issue could be due to curves being approximated with small inaccuracies. You could try editing the refinement options in the "Save as STL" dialogue box to minimize errors associated with this - using the High refinement option or reducing the maximum edge length and normal deviation fields with Custom refinement may help. It will, however, increase the size and complexity of the exported STL file.

I would recommend quitting Fusion when it is not in use for extended periods of time. This will likely reduce the "wake up" time required when you do use the program.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi @elh.maayan

The two STL files were not the same once imported to Cura? Have you imported them both to Fusion to see if they appear the same there?

If you experience this issue again, please provide a screencast showing your workflow (making model changes and exporting the STL) and attach the Fusion design to this forum thread and I am happy to have a look!
