Bug? fusion 360 sketch offset forces lines to same normal/construction state

To reproduce:

  • create a sketch
  • draw a line
  • use sketch offset tool to create an offset copy of the line
  • select the new line and convert to a construction line.
  • change the value of the dimension created during the offset operation

behavior: New line reverts to a normal non-construction line

expected: construction state of a line should be independent of the offset operation

version 2.0.2139

I'm trying to project existing geometry into my sketch, convert to construction lines, then create normal lines slightly offset for clearance. This seems like a reasonable workflow.. am I missing an easier way?

Hi @matt,

I agree that behavior is not desired, however I would need to defer judgement to the UX (User Experience) Designer for that feature and they are on vacation this week.  Searching our defect tracking system I ran across the following item "FUS-17085 - Offset should inherit the attribute of its source" which is the way it is behaving now.  I apologize for the delay, but I will ask them to reply to this thread when they return.

Thank you,

Thanks for your help.

re:

I agree that this should be the behavior when the offset is first created, but surely not after it is deliberately changed.

I look forward to your updates.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for reporting this issue. The problem you found is a bug we have also found during internal testing and several other forum users are complaining about this either. Our developer is currently working on a fix for this issue. And hopefully it will be addressed soon.

Thanks,

Frank
