Add-ins will not install

I'm trying to load a couple of Add-ins to Fusion 360. I've done this before & it worked fine then, but now when I try, everything seems to go correctly - I run the installer & it eventually says that the add-in was loaded - but they don't show up in Fusion 360.  I looked in the menus where they are supposed to appear, and looked at the list of installed add-ins & nothing shows up. I have tried installing with Fusion running & not running, restarted Fusion & my Mac numerous times & still nothing.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Hey,

Just to double check, do you see the add-ins folders in this directory?

~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/API/AddIns

I can't find anything like that.

I have a Mac, so if you are referencing Windows, my directories are probably different.

I did find a folder (Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins) that contains 4 files: 2 are for add-ins that I successfully loaded awhile ago (and which show up in Fusion), and 2 more, which are for the add-ins that I am trying to load, and which do NOT show up in Fusion. All 4 files have the extension ".bundle" eg SwiftCalcs.bundle.

Should be a no-brainer: just download the add-in, double click to run the install, and it's loaded..... Not sure why it's not working this time....

I would really like to use SwiftCalcs - any help getting it installed would surely be appreciated!

Hey Gerry that is a screen shot from my Mac. I think the add-ins that are downloaded from the store might end up in a different place though. I am checking with them and will get back to you.

This directory shown here in my screen shot is not something you can locate on your system?

Patrick,

I couldn't find the folders that you referenced - though that doesn't mean that they're not there... I haven’t spent too much time digging behind the scenes on my Mac. Could the files be hidden somehow? I am logged into the Mac as an administrator..

Yah its weird on Mac that the "Library" location is hidden by default.  If you go into your user "home" directory and right-click / view options

you can set the option to have Library display.

Once the Library is shown you can navigate to that folder.

Except... it looks like that is not the answer.  I just installed the SwiftCalcs add-in and it put it here:

/Users/rainsbp/Library/Containers/com.autodesk.mas.fusion360/Data/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins/

Maybe look there also?

I installed it and everything seemed to work?  Silly question, but when you go into the add-ins menu you are clicking on the "addins" tab not the "scripts" tab in the dialog, correct?

Ok, this just gets weirder....

First, after unhiding the Library folder, I was able to look for the tree that you first described. I got part way there, but my directory is slightly different from yours. (See screen shot)

You can see the 4 files that I mentioned at the end of the tree. If you look closely at these 4 files, they have an icon in front of them that apparently means "alias"... So these files are just pointers to the actual files?

When I searched for your second directory tree, I did find the ApplicationPlugins folder, and... it contains only the two original plugins - not the two new ones that I am the trying to install.  Just for grins, I copied the 'alias' files for the add-ins that I am trying to install over to original directory and... no surprise, they still don't run in Fusion....

This should not be so difficult... Sure could use more help in sorting this out...

Hi,

We did an update this evening which may help with this. Once the update available via the Mac App Store please install it and see if the Add-ins install issue is resolved.

OK. For some reason, updates are not usually available to me until several days after their release.. not sure why that is. anyway I will load & test as soon as possible.

BTW - any way to force download of an update (i.e. download directly from Autodesk, etc)

We submit to apple to be approved for the Mac App Store and there is no predictable time on when it gets approved. We are anticipating in the next 24 hours it will be available. There is a way you can download directly from Autodesk website but the account and renewal of subscriptions needs to go through the app store.

Here is the Autodesk link - http://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/overview

Also remember if you are going to install from here, you will be having two copies of Fusion 360 . MAS version (the app store version) and .com version (installed from Autodesk site). You should not have any trouble using either one.
