Current DWF viewer fails to open DWF exports from AutoCAD Architecture 2019 and 2023.

The DWF viewer Design Review is an open download, not a purchase item to allow for wider use.
There are format DWF and DWFx exporting from AutoCAD Architecture 2019 and 2023 that the
current viewer (Build 14.0.0.177 ) would be expected to open, however it does not, although it opens
exports from earlier versions. What then is the interoperability barrier with the current DWF Viewer ?

And is there a work around ?

With my regards,

                                Colin.

Not seeing that problem here with our own AutoCAD/ACA 2019-2023 DWGs plotted to DWF or DWFx files then opened in ADR2017.

Can you share a a DWG and a DWF from that DWG here so we can all try it too?

Hello Pendean,

Since a first DWF viewer install, I note that DWG TrueView '22 has to be a paralell install, so that is done.  Design Review build 14.0.0.177 seems to be the current edition.

There are several [A] Lothbury terrace - an export of an earlier ACA and does open in the current viewer.  This is a larger more complex DWF than the following ones that fail to open.

[B] LTS_01 - a DXFx export from ACA '19 does not open in Design Review.

[C] LTS_03 - A DWF export from ACA '23 does not open in Design Review.

We would usually only open and exchange DWF versions, though DWFx would be expected to open in the same desktop viewer and seems they all ought to be inter-operable.    Your look over and proposals would be welcome.

With my regards,

                                Colin.

Hi Pendean,

Are those three opening in your ADR17 ?   Here is another DWF out put from

a different ACA23 and this however, also has not opened.

In these instances of ADR17 not opening a blue box like thumbnail shows instead of a

visual thumbnail and a display note as attached.    A look over and proposal shall be welcomed.

                                     With my regards,

                                                                    Colin.

Hello,

Many thanks for looking these over and from your posting above - all three DWF and a DWFx are opening in a ADR 17 ?

OK so here is a difference of note, early exports (ACA15 ?) of Lothbury terrace, although larger as projects are a much smaller file size of 848 KB.   While a much smaller build these exports from both ACA 19 and 23 are some 2.71 MB.

However, on a laptop with Win 7 where ADR 13 (build version 13.0.0.82) can be installed : all Lothbury terrace DWF and LTS_01 ; LTS_02  DWFx - all open as 3D DWF - so far ADR 13 fails to install on PC with Win 10 where instead ADR 17 is on, though fails to open the 'contemporary' DWF and DWFx.

So shall a look over each DWG show up what is giving our ADR 17 a glitch problem ?

The exports from ACA 23 are LTS_03 and LTS_04 DWF -  and those would be expected to open without a glitch.

All feedback is welcome,  With my regards,

                                                                               Colin.

Thanks for the DWG files.

AutoCADARCH/ACA2023 found 1-error each in your files, other than that I plotted from your layout and modelspace in each file to both the DWF6 nd the DWFx drivers included in ACA2023/Win10Pro, and ADR2017 open all of them just fine for me here. See attached. I cannot replicate your issue at all.

Hello Pendean,

Thank you for picking those up and output of DWF sheets, however, sheets as 2D are not giving a

ADR 17 glitch, it is those 3D DWF or DWFx that fail to open on ADR 17.

Very oddly it seems on a laptop with Win 7 where ADR 13 (build version 13.0.0.82) can be installed : all Lothbury terrace DWF and LTS_01 ; LTS_02 DWFx - all open as 3D DWF.    So far ADR 13 fails to install on a PC with Win 10 where instead ADR 17 is on, though fails to open the 'contemporary'  3D DWF and DWFx.

There is concern with ADR 17 failing to open 'contemporary' 3D exports in DWF or DWFx - for slicing sections and turning views, analysis of the 3D forms.     Welcoming feedback on ACA 23 - 3D DWF opening on ADR 17.

                             With my regards,

                                                              Colin .

Hello Pendean,

Glad those are opening as DWF 3D - just as I have with ADR13 on laptop Win7.

However, very odd as these are OK for yourself, ADR17 fails to open those recent DWF exports. and ADR13 fails to install on PC Win10 (as shown in the att.).   ADR17 has been dismounted, ADR13 tried but not on, ADR 17 fresh download re-mounted, so ought to be cleanly done.

We had some Level 2 support 7 months ago for ACA 19, however, since Jan/Feb for Research and Education projects,  that has been discontinued.    PLus ADR as an open download has no support contact either and auto-replies are simply - 'Oooops! we did not get that, contact support'   which is not available as described, hence we post this item to community.   As your considerations are the only responses so far.   Thank you for those too.

With my regards,

                                Colin.

I suspect you either still have major unresolved ACA2019/2023 issues, or your ADR2017 is corrupt.

A new full-admin user log-in for your Win10 PC is a quick way to determine if your login is the issue is OS based, before you commit to a full reformat/hew HD/new PC to test.

Good luck.

Hello Pendean,

Thank you for these notes on steps to check out.

So an odd progression is that those two, a DWF and a DWFx exported from your ACA 23 ? do initially open

in ADR 17.

However, apply a zoom or zoom rectangle and ADR crashes out : -

'Thank you for sending your error report 325204317 to Autodesk.   If you’ve already provided your email address in the error report, a notification will be sent to that address when a resolution is available. Your report helps us improve our products and your experience with them. '

Next week a response from there shall be awaited also.

Thank you and with my regards,

                                                          Colin.

Autodesk's way of publishing design data is called DWFTM. It gives you an option besides printing to PDF (Portable Document Format).

DWF files make it easy and safe to share design information. Using the DWF format, you can keep project files from being changed by accident and share them with clients and other people who don't have Revit Architecture. DWF files are much smaller than RVT files, which makes it easy to send them by email or post them to a website.
