Autodesk design review.. not working

Anonymous

We have recently upgraded our company computers to windows 10 auto desk design review is being awkward.

If i open the program and select the option to open a file it works fine, however if i open my documents folder and select the file i want to open using autodesk review i get the message,

System error

The code execution cannot proceed because dwfcore_wt1.7.0.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem..

This takes several attempts to close the message before it disappears

Ive also tried several times reinstalling the program and its still the same.

I can use the program as Ive said but out of habit i usually/like to open the document first not the program.

Any help please

Which version Deign Review are you using exactly?
Did you get new computers, or just install the Win10 "upgrade" on your old Win7/8 PCs?

Hi Dean

the company replaces all of our PC's with new ones running windows 10

not sure which version of Autodesk review I'm using as we never had it on disk so when new pc's set up i went online to Autodesk reviews web page and downloaded it.. I assumed it would have been the latest version

I tried looking for the error message on the AKN, but got zero results. Purely from a visual perspective, dwfcore sounds like DWFcore, right? I am no coder/programmer, but it sounds like you are missing a key DLL file that should have been there from install. My initial suggestion would be to uninstall. Use the Autodesk uninstaller from the Windows Start menu, or Windows Control Panel to make sure you have cleared all the files from the program, then restart your PC. Then, re-install and restart again, before running Design Review. I know this is sucky but the restarts often put everything back where it should be.

Let me know how you get on with this, as I am interested, as I have never had a problem with Design Review from the day it was released, many years ago. And just so that you know, the latest version of Design Review was 2018, but is does not show that on the title bar of the application when you run it.

Thanks in advance and I hope you sort it.

SCB.

We are running the current version in Win10 with no issues https://www.autodesk.com/products/design-review/download
There is a hotfix for it too that you should install https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/design-review/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-desig...

Also, as Dean suggests here, make sure you install the hotfix too, upon install. Hotfixes are IMPORTANT, and often solve many niggly little issues that sometimes crop up. Cheers, Dean!
