Design Review Crashing when saving a PDF

Hello All,

Currently I am running into an issue where when I open a PDF of a CAD Drawing from a Network Share, Design Review freezes up and crashes. I can open the PDF fine and do the edits I need but as soon as I hit save it crashes throwing the Autodesk window error. When I try to reopen Design Review it says that the "program closed unexpectedly". This has started happening recently.

PC Specs:

HP ZBook 17 G2

i5-4210M

8GB of RAM

NVIDIA Quadro K1100M

My troubleshooting:

  • Uninstalled and Reinstalled Design Review
  • Updated Graphics Drivers
  • Wiped all remnants of Design Review from Registry, App Data, and Programs Folder and reinstalled Design Review

All of the above mentioned have had no effect on the issue. I am out of options and this is really sticking a thorn into my workflow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I just found something strange with saving. If I were to edit the PDF and then close out of the application it prompts me saying would you like to save "file name" and if I hit yes it will allow me to save it without crashing. It is only when I click on the File Directory (The big D in the upper left hand corner) it locks up and crashes. Is this a known bug with Design Review? I can use this as a work around but would still like to have some sort of solution to fix this issue.

ADR is not the best PDF tool to use: find anther from another vendor.

I do not have control over that. The program was given to me by the company I work for. I never had an issue with editing PDF's on this platform up until a couple of days ago. Regardless of whether this the best program to use or not, it should not be locking up when trying to save through the File Menu. I would appreciate a more sound solution than "just use another vendor".

So what changed "a couple of days ago"?
What if your PDFs are not on the network share, but on your PC, does the problem go away?
What program generated the PDFs? Did that change two days ago?
Is the problem with ALL PDFs, or just the ones you are working on for a project?

Note:
If the problem is your PDF(s), ADR will not fix it.
If the problem is conflict with an update that got installed on your system, a software that got added, or a software that got removed, that fix is yours to decide how to handle.

ADR was not changed by Autodesk, something else did change at your end on your laptop or your files or how you access your files.

After doing some research and digging it turns out my permissions to the ADR Folder on the C Drive were all screwed up. I was able to get full control across all folders that dealt with ADR and that solved my issue.

I am having the same issue right now. How do I edit my permissions to the ADR file on the C Drive? @zbarchuk
