No items in data exchange

Hi

I have been playing with Autodesk Data Echange for PowerBi, and the last few weeks it has working well with the Data Exchange for 3D view.

But today, when I want to update the data in PowerBi I get below message. I have tried to create PowerBi project and load the data, but with same result. I have also tried with another view from same Revit model, but with same result. Anyone has a solution?

When I open the data exchange model in ACC it looks fine

Hello Simon,

Yes, we are also facing the same issue for a few of the Exchanges due to 'Search Indexing Failures' and the team is actively working on it.  Will let you know once the issue is fixed. Appreciate your patience.

Best Regards,

Rakesh

Hello Simon,

The 'Search Indexing Failures' issue which caused 'No Items in the Data Exchange' is now FIXED.

  • Please note that the fix will not work with already created Exchanges hence please create NEW Exchanges.
  • Also, if you are using RVT files from ACC then please re-upload the RVT file to other folder and then Create NEW Exchanges.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Rakesh Borse

Today, I ran into the same issue. In ACC I see the 3D model, but in Power BI it gives me "No items in data exchange".

I also see that for some reason a [1] is placed behind this Data exchange (see image)

Hello @Renzo_van_Rijswijk ,

Maybe the search indexing more time than expected. I can see that you have deleted the Exchange and created na ew one. Please do not delete the Exchange if you face the issue again. Let us know and our team will investigate that particular Exchange.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Rakesh

Hi Rakesh, thank you for your quick response. The new Exchange file shows the same issue. So, can you and your team check this one?

Hello @Renzo_van_Rijswijk,

Our team has investigated the root cause of the issue but the fix will not work with your already uploaded Revit file and Exchange.  The current exchange search indexing flow has been failing for a long time, making it challenging for us to restore the search data to the correct state.

Therefore, it is recommended to create a new exchange by uploading the same Revit file to a different folder. Could you please try this?

We appreciate your patience.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Rakesh

Hi, I can do that. But can I move this file back to the original folder when it works?

That's great @gjordanp

Related to exchange size being 0 bytes: = Data Exchanges are not files. The Data Exchange files in Autodesk Docs or BIM 360 serve only as references and do not contain any data. They point to the Data Exchange information stored at a granular level. Hence having no size.

Hello @Renzo_van_Rijswijk ,

Yes, it would be fine if you move the file back. We recommended a different folder to avoid conflict with 'same filename'. So, you may need to delete the original file from the original folder and then upload/move the newly uploaded file.

Okay, so I :

  • Create a copy of the RVT on another location on ACC by first make a local copy of it and then collaborate it in the cloud
  • Reload linked Models in Manage Links
  • delete both the RVT and the Data echange files (belonging to this Revit model).
  •
  • Publish latest seems not necessary
  • Move the RVT to the original location
  • Create the Data exchange files again

Great, this restores the Data exchange files. I get the data in Power Bi now.

Rakesh, Thanks for your help

That's great Renzo. Do us let us know if you have more queries. Thank you for trying out the Data Exchange ecosystem.

HI Rakesh,
The Revit models have been updated and therefore the data exchange files too.
However, some do work now but some not...

Can you have a look to these...

These are the names of the exchange files that seems empty when opening the file

  • Fase-000-02-C-AP
  • Fase-000-02-C-CB
  • Fase-000-02-C-FS
  • Fase-000-02-C-OT
  • Fase-000-02-C-YP
  • Fase-000-02-C-YV
  • Fase-000-04-K-FS
  • Fase-000-04-K-MI
  • Fase-000-04-K-OO
  • Fase-000-04-K-WE
  • Fase-000-05-T-FS
  • Fase-000-05-T-MI
  • Fase-000-05-T-OO
  • Fase-000-05-T-WE
  • Fase-000-07-B-PE
  • Fase-000-07-C-PE-A
  • Fase-000-07-C-PE-W

Here a screendump of such a file in ACC

That's weird @Renzo_van_Rijswijk, I have asked the team to investigate. Please expect a delay in response as Autodesk has a week of rest on the last of the year. Will get back to you as I got any inputs.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Rakesh Borse
