What editor is used for posts?

What editor is used for modifying and writing posts?  I know I can use a text editor, but is there a language-sensitive editor that is used by the pros?

I know that there are editors for languages such as C, like Eclipse, Emacs, Visual Studio, etc.

What language are the posts written in?  I know it's C-like, but is there a better definition?

Trying to come up to speed on doing my own modifications...

Thanks.

The language is JavaScript. A great editor to use is Notepad++

And on the Mac, BBEdit is one option (now free as its being rewritten for next generation of Max OS).
