Machine ZERO set on work piece loaded into Tormach PCNC 440 using Haimer. Set up of CAM was done in Fusion 360 with the ZERO in the same location. Uploaded .nc file and ran with no tool in spindle. What I find is that overall tool length set up in Fusion 360 doesn't give correct Z location in the mill. About 1/4" too deep everywhere. I've changed the OAL of the tool(s) set up to various values, then tried changing other values. Still, the depth of cut is off. Help requested...
The tool in the CAM is strictly for toolpath generation, it will not tell your machine anything about the tool, and it cannot. You must set up the tools with a tool length offset on the machine. I would presume there is something in the manual about how to do this properly, and I believe NYCCNC has a video on doing so as well (and probably a half dozen other videos on YouTube too I'd bet).
Thanks.
Tool offsets are done on the machine. The Heimer w/ offest establishes zero on the work piece. Each end mill has an offset establishing to the same zero. When I use Visual CAM in Solidworks, the code is generated with the offsets from machine tools. So, when post and run the CAM, everything is where it should be. Not so with Fusion 360. I'll check into NYC CNCs vids. Again thanks for help.
There may be something up with your Setup. Is it possible to export and share the .F3D file here?
