[OPEN] Open Thread for Feedback on Community

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the Community Feedback Hub and thank you for joining us here to provide your insights!

In this open thread, we invite you to share your great ideas to improve our Communities, features you’d love to see, share event ideas, etc. Please feel free to share any topic, that you do not see already in the Feedback Hubthat you think should be there.

Please note that this thread is for feedback on the Community, not for product feedback.

We’ll be looking out for popular topics and common issues, and we’ll promote those to their own thread for a deeper conversation as needed

Your input is so valuable to help us keep improving our Communities—so please take the opportunity to share your feedback with us!

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas. And, please feel free to tag me, or any other Community Manager in your posts.

Wishing you the best,

Tiana.D

No luck getting the screencast to attach.

Let's just go back to ignoring reported issues.

That is how this board will help.

@Tiana_Y

Don't get confused - this isn't an issue with the Screencast product - it is an issue of embedding the links in the forum.

I created a comprehensive video on the issue - but it was deleted from these forums by Autodesk.

If you have a new Community platform issue to log, please provide specific details on the issue. All issues detailed in the Feedback Hub are bring logged and tracked and when logged or status changed are listed in the weekly report.

We are also working on a dedicated Community platform issue reporting form that will make this process easier to report issues and know a status instead of this open thread.

Please note regarding Screencasts, that the Private Screencast option was removed on December 1, 2021.

Thank you,
Shaan

You have no understanding of the issue even though I have posted it here many times in this thread and many many times in the deleted feedback forum.  (See Message #28 in this thread.)

I even created a video demonstrating the issue that was in the old feedback forum that you deleted rather than archiving.

In a nutshell...

Some users can embed Screencast into their posts, others cannot - they get a Invalid HTML error.

(As @TheCADWhisperer I get the HTML error. As @JDMather I do not get the error.)

Another user today reports:

The screencast is here (I cannot embed the screencast - just get a message about invalid html.  This has been a forum problem for as long as I can remember).

Maybe it would be useful for someone from Autodesk to hang out on the Fusion forum for a few days...

...I did kind of get the impression from Andy that this is important to him last time I talked to him.

Related. I go to my screencasts and thought, let me test putting one in a post.

I get there and I see a "share" button. "Nice", I thinking, this is going to be easy.

I click share and see this:

rkmcswain_0-1639453259924.png

What percentage of the time will contributors here want to share on these platforms vs. sharing it in a post on the very platform we are currently in? Where is the "Add to new post" button?

Okay, back to the mission of testing a screencast in a post.

Adding a screencast works for me.

You might want to update the text here, since there are no more private, right?

Put down your hand - you haven’t done the homework.

EEs can insert screencasts just fine.

This was pointed out by Autodesk employee reply on the Screencast forum (in link I have supplied in this and/or previous discussions on the topic), but it remains a problem for less trusted forum users after several years.

Over on the Fusion forum I frequently ask Autodesk customers to create a Screencast of their Fusion issues that aren’t easily understood by text description or still images or even the CAD file.  This has proven to often be the deciding factor in diagnosing an issue.

I think Autodesk recognizes the diagnostic value of Screencast, but the process is broken, particularly for less experienced users and I see them get frustrated (I often post their statements here and particularly on the old feedback forum that was deleted rather than archived).

I have followed this issue very closely for years and am perplexed that @shaan.hurley completely missed the problem statement early on in this new and improved feedback format.

@TheCADWhisperer I understand you are frustrated, we are as well and trying to improve the process and solve this for everyone in the community. This Feedback Hub was not intended for platform issue reporting and tracking, it was specifically for getting the community feedback on topics we are looking for feedback on in the community.

"Help us keep improving Autodesk Community. Share your feedback in response to the threads marked [OPEN]. If you have feedback on a topic that you do not see listed, share it the Open Thread for Feedback on Community. We’ll be here to respond to your feedback and make sure it gets to where it needs to go."

We are well aware of the need to have dedicated community platform issue reporting that is clear, easy, and with status reporting, and we are working on that now and ask for your patience in this. We will in the new year move issue-reporting out of this open thread to a dedicated issue reporting, tracking, and status process. This should make issue-reporting clear within the community as well as put the focus back on the open topics we are looking for community members' feedback on.

We both have the same goal, to improve the community, let's work together.

thank you,
Shaan

@JDMather This issue is logged and has external dependencies to address it. We are tracking this and will update you when the status changes.

Closing the loop doesn't mean we can immediately address an issue, but it is logged and reviewed.

Thank you,
Shaan

@hfcandrew Product-related issues cannot be addressed by the community team, but it is my understanding that we have communicated this to the product group.

For product-related or specific issues, please report them to the product teams or support.

A small thing but I noticed that at the top of the Inventor forum, "Filter by Labels" is spelt wrongly as "Lables".

My apologies @TheCADWhisperer - I only read the last post, where you said

"In a nutshell... Some users can embed Screencast into their posts, others cannot"

I did not try to find all of the other relevant posts in this ridiculous convoluted thread.

I have several other, non-EE accounts, so I'll try using one of those next.
