Community Ideas for Autodesk University 2022

Hi Community!

I’m interested to hear any ideas you have on how we can have some community activities during Autodesk University 2022.  During AU 2021 we did the Autodesk Community 5k and Top 5 Recommended Sessions from community members.

So what can we think about for AU 2022?

  1. Events and Meetups to connect whether AU is in person or digital online.
  2. Fun contests such as design-related challenges to show off skills and techniques.
  3. Any other suggestions you might have.

Thank you so much for your input and feedback. I look forward to seeing you at AU 2022, hopefully in person.

A challenge based on application to complete a specific timed task using a software of the attendees choosing. The student group did this a few years ago with Bjoern Wittenburg and it was really a great time. Prizes were varied, and could be an option. Planning an after AU event for the EE group to see the city around the AU venue would be good if we are in a different city.

Mark,

Great idea, and one we are exploring on how we could do this fairly and equitably. If you have any suggestions on how people could participate in a challenge in person as well as remote I'm all ears.

Back in the day, they used to have a sample drawing and then turn off the monitor on AutoCAD and see if someone could reproduce the drawing without seeing the screen. That was a real test of knowing commands and the AutoCAD interface.

Thank you,
Shaan

in person would be the greatest choice as we have missed the spirit of that event and the exhibit as well

@mamdouh.salem We agree and are hoping AU 2022 is in person. This depends on many things out of our control and making sure we do it safely and when people feel they can travel.

Hoping we all get together in AU2022!

How about tour(s) of structures of architectural/engineering interest, i.e., Frank Gehry's Keep Memory Alive Event Center, new facilities about to open, Stratosphere Tower, etc.  Include design hurtles that had to be overcome to complete the project.

Could also do a "Stand Down for Homeless Veterans" (or other locally needed cause) where teams first compete in “military-themed challenge activities to score points and to earn access to the donation materials. Challenges include a variety of military-themed activities such as the “Rocket Launch Challenge”, “Boot Camp”, “Famous Army TV/Movie Trivia Challenge” and “Battleship”. Team points are tallied by facilitators while squads get to work assembling their donation of hygiene care kits (each with a handwritten message of encouragement).

Thank you @David.Dille. Great suggestion. We would have to review with Product/Industry and Gallery teams to make sure we don't overlap and also coordinate and request this from the AU team. I will add this to our list of community events at AU to consider.

1. Meetups and design Challenges could be both In-Person and Online one..!!

2. A bit more of Live In-Factory Experience for Physical Attendees..!!

3. Project of the Year for both In-Person and Virtual Attendees..!! Like Each member submits heir best Design, and based on several Criteria's like Software used, Loved by Community, Voted by Judges, Voted by Employees, etc..  This would be fun to see..!!

Thanks and Regards,

Rushabh Thakkar.

Hi Shaan,

Give a group of people a dwg full of app ids, layer filters, missing shx, materials, old proxy objects....and see if anyone can clean/purge them all out without blocking all to new drawing, or erasing any entities.
