Materials and How They Put Some Skin in the Game of Revit Families with Donnia Tabor-Hanson

Comment (18)

Materials make a family look like it is supposed to. Find how to search for materials and how to customize them. Building materials from scratch can appear daunting but with a little help it might be something to try soon. Also look at how materials get added to a family unnecessarily sometimes.

Join expert Donnia Tabor-Hanson for this fun and enlightening session, hosted by Community Manager Kimberly Fuhrman.

seems like a lot of work for updating material, is there a dynamo or plugin that makes this easier and less time consuming to do

As promised, here is where you can review the files that make materials look the way they do:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Materials\Textures\1\Mats

Thanks y'all,

Thank you for the links I will have to check them out when I get a chance, too busy. Hopefully there will also be something for a find/replace see I hate bringing in models only to see Revit create a new material of same name because something might be slightly off. Nothing like ending up with “Generic (8)” when you don’t care about it and just want them all to just be “Generic”
I do show you how to go and rename those.

Did you miss having an August session? Are you looking forward to the one in September that you voted on? Need a little fix on learning something about Revit? I will be on Facebook on the Autodesk Revit Community page answering questions for the next hour. Scurry over there and check it out.
