MGC Technical Consulting is a telecommunications engineering firm that provides turnkey engineering and permitting plans to the world’s best telecommunication providers. Some of their projects include fiber backbone builds, building fiber service laterals, point-to-point microwave solutions, building telecom infrastructure, design, clean-up, and updating.
MGC is seeking a talented and experienced Automation Programmer with a specialization in LISP programming to join our team on a contract basis to play a key role in enhancing our automation capabilities within AutoCAD.
Position Overview:
As an Contract Automation Programmer, you will be responsible for developing automation tools and custom solutions to streamline and optimize AutoCAD design processes. You will work closely with our engineering and design teams to create efficient LISP-based applications that enhance our workflow and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain custom LISP routines and applications for AutoCAD to automate tasks, improve productivity, and ensure consistent design standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements and identify areas for automation to enhance design and drafting processes.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and enhance existing LISP programs to improve performance and functionality.
- Document code, workflows, and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and maintainable solutions.
- Stay updated on AutoCAD and LISP programming best practices and emerging trends to continually improve our automation capabilities.
- Provide technical support and training to team members in the use of LISP-based tools and automation solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. (Or equivalent work experience)
- Proven experience in LISP programming with a strong focus on Autodesk AutoCAD automation.
- Proficiency in other programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, .NET) is a plus.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, AutoLISP, and Visual LISP is essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex design and automation requirements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality code.
