Overview

Lead current practices as well as future advancement of Computer Aided Design (CAD) by driving vision, planning, and implementation of improvements within engineering and corporately.

Responsibilities

  • Assure all CAD deliverables are created with a high level of quality and consistency throughout engineering.
  • Create and maintain procedures governing modeling best practice, drafting standards, templates, metadata, and file management for all engineering CAD deliverables including models, drawings, and other specifications.
  • Assure product quality in keeping with the A-dec brand by upholding high standards in checking of CAD deliverables for accuracy and consistent conformance to procedures.
  • Decrease product development time to market by leading CAD process improvement innovations for work flow efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Assure a high level of department wide CAD competency with both design and analysis; identify knowledge gaps, then plan and conduct training to maintain consistency and increasing skill; is a resource for informal tutoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Define vision and objectives for CAD advancement; research emerging technologies and practices; stay up to date with industry trends in order to lead direction regarding future tools, architecture and platforms; assure utilization of existing CAD tools; maintain professional network outside the company.
  • Maintain asset quality through regular assessment of current and legacy data; assure long-term usability by all internal and external customers of CAD data.
  • Provide advanced technical leadership for the CAD key users and broader user community.
  • Represent design engineering and corporate needs by partnering with Information Services regarding systems integration and CAD administration responsibilities.
  • Create CAD deliverables for new product design and sustaining engineering as workloads vary, and to maintain skill and experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field plus (10) years related CAD experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, Catia V5 or equivalent design software and predictive simulation software
  • Strong working understanding of engineering principles, terminology, and practice
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and illustration form.
  • Demonstrates collaborative change management and project management skills; manages time and resources effectively.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently with moderate supervision as well as in a team environment.
