This guide shows how to create a Forma project
Creating a project is the first step to start working on your designs. In this guide, we’ll walk you through all the necessary steps to get started.
Step 1: Create the project
When you log in to Forma or click the Forma logo in the top left corner of the screen, you’ll land on the Home page. Click the "Create project" button to start.
2. Choose location of your site
Now, you can search for the location of your site by using the map. Use the search box to type a specific street address, city, or area.
3. Specify the map area
The map area will define the geographic boundaries for your project, where you can add objects and run analyses. To change the map area, you can either zoom in and out to adjust size or pan to adjust position. The maximum project size is approximately 2x2km (1.54 squared miles).
4. Order or import contextual data
After you've created a project, the next step is to add data about the world and surroundings to your project. There are three ways to add contextual data:
-
order it through our product from data providers in various countries (1)
-
import your own data sets (2)
-
draw it manually.
Ordering and importing data can be done via the Library tab in the left hand menu as shown on the screenshot below.
5. Populate your proposal and scenario layers with data
If you click on the data you will be given the possibility to place the data in the 3D scene. Here you can choose what parts of the data you want to add to the scene, and later choose whether the data should be added as a proposal or a scenario layer.
