I understand that it isn't often that you would see (or need) a schedule dressed up with pretty pictures of the elements that are being scheduled - but I couldn't help talking about one of the fun things that Revit can do!
Some background -
On the request of a team member, I was investigating and vetting a double bowl sink family. Since there are only so many manufacturer families that you can vet, my bored mind started to think of other things to do -
- The first thing that my bored mind wandered off to do was to visit the manufacturer webpage and take a screenshot of the sink. (tip for a more elegant result - make sure that the family materials are correct, place the family into a project and then render a 3D view to an image. You can get the exact image that you want!)
- Then I pasted the screenshot into (oh horrors! How very primitive!!) Paint. Cropped and saved the image.
- In the family - I added the resulting image to the Type Image parameter under Identity Data -
So far it looks kind of uninteresting - where's the image??
Some more steps to the magic! Save and load the family into the project. Place an instance (at least) and schedule it. Make sure that the Type Image parameter is in the schedule. Still don't see an image......
until you place the schedule on a sheet. Hooray!!
Can you imagine how much fun this would be with a Furniture schedule?
Of course, sometimes this may not work - and you may end up with a blank spot where you would expect to see a beauteous image.
On the sheet -
In the Schedule view -
The fix (most of the time that is - this is what I did in Revit 2022 - I hear that this issue has been resolved in Revit 2023) -
select the instance >> edit the family >> Properties palette >> Manage Images dialog box >> Reload From -
