Last week, I shared that we were rolling out a series of behind-the-scenes improvements to enhance the Autodesk Community experience.
Read the previous blogpost here.
Starting tonight (PST), May 22 through Sunday, May 25 (PST), we’ll begin the next phase of our migration work. This migration is part of our efforts to improve the Autodesk Community experience and get closer to our goal of a more connected platform for all users.
What’s Happening?
As part of this update, we’ll be moving content from a few existing boards into a more modern structure. Similar to the last round, you won’t see any changes to the new design, but you will see minor changes to your experience.
Changes
While the migration is happening, you may notice duplicate boards temporarily appearing in multiple areas of the site, including:
- The Community homepage
- Secondary navigation menus
- The “All Forums” page
- Specific product forum pages
- Industry pages
This will only affect the boards currently being migrated, not the entire community. These duplicate boards will be easily distinguished by the board's title, so you will be able to identify the existing boards (read-only) from the new boards.
What You Need to Know
- You may briefly see two versions of some boards. This is expected and will only last while the migration is in progress.
- During this time, the existing boards will be placed in read-only mode. This means you won’t be able to create new topics, post replies, like, or upvote content on those boards. However, you’ll still be able to search and view past discussions.
- New versions of the boards will be available and fully open for content creation, so you can continue asking questions, sharing ideas, and participating in conversations without interruption. Also, for the new board versions, you will be unable to find older content which is yet to be moved. This, however, will only last while the migration is in progress.
- We’re taking this approach to ensure you can still access older content while keeping new discussions active and undisrupted.
- After each board is fully migrated, we’ll put a redirect in place so that links to the old board (such as bookmarks or search engine results) will automatically take you to the new version.
- All content, including discussions, replies, labels, and accepted solutions will remain intact once the migration is concluded.
We’ll be working behind the scenes to complete this round as smoothly and quickly as possible. Thank you for your continued patience and for being part of the Autodesk Community. We’ll keep you updated as improvements roll out.
