The Sun, rising quietly from the East, shines a warm but cool light over this early morning on Sanford Lake. It’s Fall, late November, a time when mahogany leaves in various shades of umber and nut brown fill the skies and scatter their colors across the lakeside here. It’s a time to slow down, to relax, to take in nature and all that surrounds us.
However, as all local Michigan residents know, during this exact time of year, the lake is bone dry. Not to fear, a dam is being constructed, and a full lake is expected sometime in April. Nonetheless, we still love a great sunrise on a calm and cool morning.
What do mornings on Sanford Lake have to do with being thankful, you ask (I know you are thinking it…)? Simple, it’s the little things we take for granted. It’s taking the time to stop during our busyness and appreciate what we don’t always think about.
No matter where you are from or what you are doing, November is the time of Thanksgiving. It’s a time when family and friends gather. A time when we all must work on the connections we have and those we want to make for the future. It’s a time to give back to others in any way we can. No matter how small or large.
Being part of the Autodesk Community and Family allows us the opportunity to be part of a larger network of friends, colleagues, and experts in all fields. Whether you are answering forum questions, posting articles/blogs, submitting new ideas in Revit or other applications, attending an Autodesk Event such as Autodesk University, or just perusing the various Autodesk websites, you are communicating within the Autodesk ecosystem as a trusted member. What you do within the Autodesk realm matters! All that you do, all that you write, help with, and all that you interact with is a way of being thankful and giving thanks back to the Autodesk Community. We appreciate everything you do and value you and your commitment to fostering growth, community, and a spirit of goodwill for everyone.
I want to take this opportunity to personally thank all of you, my friends, extended family, colleagues, and all those whom I have had the honor to meet, to say “Thank You!” I have been very fortunate to have time with each of you and cherish the moments we were together. I hope that in the years ahead, we continue to grow and love each other in our own ways. I truly appreciate all that you have given to me. I hope and wish all of you the best this Thanksgiving and holiday season. May you find the time to slow down, spend moments of joy and love with those you value most, and do your best to help others in need wherever and whenever you can. Thank you!
