Thank you for joining us on November 7th for the C.I.T.E. User Group Series. Here is a recap of our session, "Desktop Connector Fears".
This session focused on addressing common concerns and fears about Desktop Connector, with a special emphasis on the latest version 17 improvements. Autodesk UX team members Abby Lott and Kevin Logerquist presented major enhancements, including:
- New scanning capabilities that detect previously undetected file changes
- Significant performance improvements with downloads up to 8 times faster
- Updated upload with references utility
The presenters answered user questions about upgrade best practices, project size limitations (up to 300,000 files per project), and various technical concerns. Poll results showed that most attendees are using version 17+ and their biggest fears include file unlock issues and data loss. The webinar featured interactive Q&A sessions, where the Autodesk team provided technical guidance on troubleshooting, workspace configuration, and performance optimization strategies.
Key highlights:
- Showcase of the awesome improvements in Desktop Connector version 17
- Deep dive into how the new scanning technology works in v17
- Best practices for setting up a Shared Workspace
- Discussion of factors contributing to poor File Unlock performance
Additional topics included the Desktop Connector product roadmap, max file path differences between Windows and ACC, the Desktop Connector Reset Utility, and best practices for installing updates.
