want to label distances on feature lines by swiping several at a time versus selecting one at a time

We design field tile systems where laterals are 40'-50' apart.  I can annotate these feature lines with a distance label with annotate>add labels>feature line function, but I have to select each line (there could be hundreds) at a time.  I have not successfully been able to select multiple at a time.  Even when I select multiple segments, that doesn't work.

Thank you for your idea. I would recommend Dynamo for this, but we don't have nodes for creating labels yet.

Some thoughts:

• The limitation here is that adding a segment label can currently only be done one object at a time
• I suspect the reason for this is because an object could have multiple segments in it, so you have to specify which segment you want the label on. If you could select multiple objects, they could have any number of segments, so how would we know which segment you want to label in each case?
• It seems you might have hundreds of feature lines with a single segment each, so it feels like you should be able to label all of them at once since they are uniform

Some ideas for improvement:

• Allow for multiple selection
• If all selected objects only have a single segment, then we just put the label at the midpoint of each object

• This is totally reasonable, and the user could just drag the labels around afterwards if they don't want them all at the midpoint

• If the selected objects have a varying number of segments, we could:

• Ask the user for a segment number to use for all the labels
• Or just place them all on at the midpoint of the first segment (every object will have at least one segment, so this is safe)

Also, I don't know much about Dynamo, I will have to do some research on how that works.
