"Corrected cubic parabola" as a spiral definition for railway alignments

"Corrected cubic parabola" as a spiral definition for railway alignments

There is a number of transition curves already implemented into Civil 3D.

The railway designers from Central European region need additional type of transition curve, called "Corrected cubic parabola".

This type of transition curve is regularly used on the existing sections of railroad tracks in the region and not being able to use it is causing a serious setback in the usability of Civil 3D for railroad designers in Slovenia (and also neighboring countries that used to fall under Austrian-Hungarian empire, such as Croatia and Bosnia and Hercegovina - some instances of use were noted also in Czech Republic and Slovakia).

This type of transition curve is used when the length of the transition is above:

The equation for corrected cubic parabola is:

In general, one could argue that this type of transition curve has limited usage, but when you find it in every project that you have, it is hard to go without it.
