North Arrow - Option to set to local Grid

North Arrow - Option to set to local Grid

The current Layout Dynamic North Arrow is reference to North based on the Lat/Long of the Corrodinate System of the drawing.  Most engineering documents are located in a State Plane system.

We need an option to set the North Arrow to point to "Current map coordinate system".

See Screencast to see how the North Arrow is linked to Lat/Long and not the "Current map coordinate system"

Thanks,

Charles

CD,

"We need an option to set the North Arrow to point to 'Current map coordinate system'."

It already does exactly that:

Hi Dave,

The problem is that the MapCreateNorthArrow tool points to Lat/Long north, not Grid/AutoCAD north.  This can lead to a north arrow that be off of grid by a few minutes to a few degrees.

There are options for the MapLayoutReferenceSytem that allows the user to set the Grid to "Current map coordinate system" (i.e. State Plane).  If this option was available for the MapCreateNorthArrow tool that would solve an immediate problem.

Charles,

AutoCAD points the North Arrow by using Grid Azimuth, not True or Geodetic(lats & Longs) Azimuth. I use these definitions:

MappingAngle.png

And this Mapping Angle is what most C3D users say is "funky". It's not. It's orienting that North Arrow EXACTLY where it should be for that particular Map Projection.
