model map

model map

I often create very complex models with multiple gradings, corridors and surfaces all pasted together. I have data shortcuts and xrefs in the one drawing. This is difficult to pass to other people as they will often have to spend considerable time working out how the model is put together so that they know what will happen if they change something.

I would like to see a model map in the form of a tree type diagram. At the top is the start and here you will find the initial objects used in the drawing such as data shortcut survey surface, grading objects etc. as these objects interact they are linked in the tree and the branches merge together as the diagram runs top to bottom. This means that when I pass my work to someone else they can immediately visualise how the model is put together and see the dependencies of objects on each other.

Different colours represent different things so in the above example the red is a reference to a surface, whereas the green is the flow direction of the work.

What would also be nice is if the properties of the objects could be acced from the map such as surface styles, grading group properties etc.

Another thing would be if there are several objects of a similar type, such as 10 grading objects to be pasted to a final surface, these objects could be collapsed together to simplify the tree diagram.

Just an idea.
