Incomplete curve Band (in Profile Views)

Incomplete curve Band (in Profile Views)

If you create in a curve band in an profile view and you have an curve-group "spiral-curve-entitie", then the connecting line between the curve and the entitie is not displayed. The background is that a spiral with length 0 is created between the curve and the entitie.
Either instead of a spiral with length 0 NO sprial should be created, or at least the lines in the curve band should be connected with the "neighbours".

See the cyan rectangle:

Thank you for posting this idea. Would you please provide a sample drawing showing this behavior?

Hello @TimYarris

Thank you for your answer! Here is an example DWG: https://mgbdataag-my.sharepoint.com/:u:/g/personal/support_mgbdata_ch/EQQZ0v_NWtxGr6SWPDysZ4gBbWmqmQ...

Hi @f_furger . I asked an expert on profile bands and alignment and profile geometry to assess this situation. He said because you have applied Curvature (or Radius) in the profile view band style, the band is displaying on that base (Curvature or Radius). Taking curvature as an example in a TSCST case:

  • Tangent's Curvature is a horizontal line, near 0 or none
  • Curve's Curvature is a horizontal line, it is 1/radius and always
  • Spiral's Curvature is a line, but not horizontal as it starts from previous entity's 1/radius and ends at next entity's 1/radius.
So you will find T+SCS+T will be continuous, S is the transition. But if there is no Spiral, Curvature will jump from T's 0 to Curve's 1/Radius to T's 0 in a T+S(0)CS(0)+T case.
So we think it is by design. Please feel free to let me know if I missed anything.

Hello Tim

Thank you very much for your answer. I have already discussed the same with the support. The problem is this: If one creates an axis with the combination "spiral-curve-entitie" via the create alignment command, then the "following" spiral is entered as 0.00 spiral instead of NO spiral being created. In my opinion, this is an error. In order not to revise the axis creation command, it would still be nice if the curve band were visually connected. Here is a screencast: https://app.screencast.com/Oou3HC65KOR07

PS: Sorry in the first picture of my original post, the last part should be a entitie, not a spiral!!

I hope you understand what I mean.

Thank you and best regards
Flurin
