Corridor boundaries

Corridor boundaries

Well this picture indicates why I find Civil 3D infuriating to work with.

CorridorBoundaries.png

Doesn't Civil 3D know what should make up of a corridor surface? Should it really extend past it's actual geometric constraints? Why does the corridor shrinkwrap stop working if there are crossing boundaries? Why does the corridor surface not work correctly if I don't have a continuous corridor? Can't we have the links, featurelines of the corridor determine the extents of the surface and any triangles outside of it be omitted? If boundaries are required for Civil 3D triangulation why not add both outer boundaries and show boundaries instead of just one outer boundary?

I'm just trying to do a quick study on how to design this trail and having the hardest time doing so because all of these limitations.

and why on earth can't AutoDESK give us a solution to batter loops.  the corridor is a model after all and is only as accurate as the frequency applied, so whay get all carried away with removal of batter intersept loops and say it is all too hard becasue we don't know whether to steepen the slope or not etc...  Don't we just need a secondary iteration through the corridor to remove the inner points and links of the loops and at least give us a corridor that will allow the construction of a boundary for surface creation automatically?  Peter

Peter,

If I could give you a kudos for this post, I would do so.

This is typical when we are making roundabouts and we disable some region of the roundabout.

the corridor surface join edges of the TIN with the enabled regions on the disabled region.

It is quite confusing because you think the corridor surface is right.

@Civil3DReminders_com , we have done some improvement on this idea. would you interested to take a look at the latest behaviors?

Thanks
