Better options for deletion

I believe there should be a better way to undo something rather than going through the UNDO pull-down in the quick access toolbar and having to undo all the way back to the problem. I would like an option to be able to delete only one thing out of the list, even if it is something that was 30 commands ago. I have researched this problem and unless I have missed something I am seeing no solution.

The only thing even close to this is the OOPS command.  You can erase something and do 20 other commands.  Type OOPS and the erased thing is returned.  I think this should not be restricted to just erased objects.  Maybe I trimmed something an hour ago and I want it back?

While I agree that it is VERY frustrating to have to undo back through 30 command (per your example), I think it would be unfeasible from a programming standpoint to implement this idea.  What happens if one of the changes you bypass (made AFTER the command you're attempting to undo) depends on that command having been performed?  This would open a huge can of worms in an already finicky, crash-prone program.
