Better coordination between Civil, Map and AutoCAD

Better coordination between Civil, Map and AutoCAD

Much better coordination is needed between Civil 3D, Map3D and AutoCAD. Vanilla commands in AutoCAD like Wblock know nothing about coordinate systems that use US Survey Feet. Map 3D handles the coordinate systems but you can't Query Civil 3D objects.  Those of us who work in standard coordinate systems that use US Survey Feet have a difficult time with conversions. Great care has to taken to avoid miss-scaling when transforming between systems.

There needs to be a consistent method for doing these transformations.

I had this conversation with a coworker just yesterday. She said the only think that seems to actually respond to coordinate systems is the exportkml command.

One of the features of AutoCAD 2017 is the addition of the US Survey Foot as a native AutoCAD unit.

Peter,

Excellent! Thank you.

Next step. Get Map 3D to recognize Civil objects.

So, does having US Survey Foot native make scaling a drawing from grid to surface easier?

If I have a surface scaled drawing, and I setup Civil 3D's transformation settings, when I query in data through the Map Task Pane, does it get scaled too?

If not, I don't think this idea has been fully implemented.
