Automatic Symbolization and Labeling using The Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS

The Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS is a very useful tool for adding GIS data to an AutoCAD drawing. Typically, utility companies have a robust GIS system with symbology and labels built out. To increase efficiency and to reduce setup time with an AutoCAD drawing, it would be useful to have the ability to assign symbology and labels to data on import. For example, as a user brings in a gas valve via the connector, AutoCAD could recognize that the layer name says 'gas_valve' and automatically assigns a gas valve symbol and labels the gas valve number. Of course, this would be based on a template defined by the user's organization. Currently, all of the valves come in as just points and a user needs to change each point group to the correct symbol and label style. This is quite a task if a user is importing 20-30 point groups at a time.

Hi @britt.elmore ,

Recently we worked through this requirement by using Dynamo to stylize not only GIS data but also any other data source that comes into Civil 3D drawing.

Here is a link that contains a video demonstrating the workflow, sample data, and a Dynamo script for C3D Data stylization.  This data was created as part of this exploration. This example uses Dynamo along with C3D Property set information to stylize the data.

Please let me know if this satisfies your requirement.
