XML File loading differently for surveyor than in AutoCAD

I have received an XML file that the surveyors are using to layout a line in the field and when they bring it into their handheld/controller it shows as a 3D line allowing them to layout elevations, but when I bring the file into AutoCAD Civil 3D it shows as an alignment which has no elevations. I need to bring the file in somehow so I can edit a few elevations along the polyline.

I think for a line to be sent to a controller it needs to have and Alignment and a Profile in C3D before it is XML'd out.

I've never tried bringing an XML back into C3D but if it shows an alignment, is there a profile along with it?  That would have your elevations.

You might just need to create a Profile view to get it to show up...?
