Window selection not squared

I had my software to perform a select objects window which normal conditions is squared and if you select in other way the window appears with a non regular form, depending if you perform the selection right to left or otherwise.  Right now the selection is being performed with an irregular window (which I don´t know what is used for and on the other hand I used always the squared selection for objects.  I need to know how to set it back to perform the window selection squared.  The lasso selection allows to perform different options but does not allow to perform squared window selection.  Attached is a video to show how the software performs.  I appreciate the help to this regard.

Do you just want to turn off the lasso mode?

That looks like a lasso. To select with a 'window' use two clicks.

1. First click at top left and second click at bottom right, or
2. First click top right and second click at bottom left.

If you HOLD DOWN your mouse button and DRAG across your screen, you get lasso instead of a 'window.'

Additionally, what is the lasso option used for?

It allows a more freeform selection. You can make the lasso fit an irregular selection rather than having to pick everything in a rectangular window and the use remove to deselect what you don't want.

Just like we could for years before lasso, with WP, CP, and Fence selection methods. 

I have yet to run into a situation where lasso is something I'd need/use.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't use it either. Much easier to use WP and CP.
