what is the difference of BIND and INSERT function of XREF

I noticed that both BIND and INSERT function would insert the xref as a block into the current drawing. So what is the difference of these 2 functions? (Advantage and disadvantage of both)

the biggest difference is layer naming once complete.

bind will show: 

XREF1-LAYER1

XREF1-LAYER2

XREF2-LAYER1

XREF2-LAYER2

insert will show:

LAYER1

LAYER2
