Hi everyone. I am new to Civil 3d and am trying to learn how to develop plans. How do you draw a weir or orifice in civil 3d? Do I need to create a custom part or something? Thanks

AutoCAD polylines, arcs, or lines.

I assume you add the weir in as a breakline...is that correct?

If you want to model it as a surface, then yes.

Even though the concept of a weir is centries old, Autodesk hasn't provided an object to represent one. Evidently BIM means document management for Civil Infrastructure and we aren't worthy of BIM objects like the architects have.

We use OOTB civil 3D structures, then assign a plan view structure style (using a block that has grayed out weirs). Then we let the Detail do the work.
