Volume report for all corridors present in one drawing

Hi, is it possible to create one volume report for all corridors present in a drawing. I don't see this possibility for the corridors in the Toolbox  whereas it is possible to have such global reports for all profiles and all alignments characteristics.

Thanks,

MHB

Depends on the approach
If you built a common finished surface, layers and datum , yes

Thanks,

All corridors are independant canals wit no common finished surface.

So I understand it is not possible...

Thats not true. You are expecting the corridor report from the tool box. I'm suggesting you make all your corridor surfaces indipendantly then paste into one global surface and now you can get the results from the volume dashboard

Thanks Joe but I don't understand the procedure you are suggesting...

Until now I get a total volume table for each alignment based on its corridor surface and the exigisting ground surface.

I don't see how I can paste it in one global surface and get a total volume table for each alignment.

Cheers,

MHB

I tend to just have one corridor in my drawings but with many baselines and thus one surface for datum, one for finished etc etc.

If you have several corridors in your drawing then simply create the relevant datum/finished surface for each, create a new surface called e.g. Composite Datum and paste all the datum surfaces in to it. You can then use the usual volume tools to determine volumes

Thanks. I must explain the context. This is an irrigation project with several canals (alignments and corresponding corridors) which are not not necessarily connected.

What I would like to have is a single report providing the cut and fill table for each of the canals' corridors. I am not interested to have the total cut and fill without the detail for each canal corridor.

In the report manager of the toolbox it is possible to have such single report for all the profiles for example.

Hope I have been more clear.

Thanks,

MHB

Hello MHB

There are myriad ways to get an answer out of civil3d. it sounds like you are computing materials and generating a table/ report per corridor. The short answer to your question is no, not without third party software.

You can get your quantities through surface volumes and the volume dashboard allows you to divide a surface into discrete areas (your individual alignments) by using polygons.

So if you were to paste all your corridor surface into a single "All Surface" then compare that to eg you would get the volume of all the canals. Furthermore, you can create sub volume surface in the volume dashboard with the previously mention polygon yadayada... each sub volume could be named with the alignment names and finally the VD can generate one report containing each alignments volumes. I'd do a screen cast but I am in the middle of a re-install and cannot use acad yet.

Thanks Joe.

Will try do that with VBA.

Maybe Autodesk could include this feature in the 2017 version ?

Hello @MHSher

unfortunately it will definitely be to late for version 2017, since this version is already finished and to be released first half of April.

But please go ahead and log your product enhancement idea on the Civil 3D Idea Station.

There other users can rate and discuss your idea, you get immediate feedback and our development team can identifiy "hot topics" for future features.

Regards,

Karsten.
