Updating Path using Reference Manager

My reseller send me a link to a article for Autodesk AutoCAD Reference Manager Overview.  In the video the person demonstrated updating the path to an xref. However he was replacing an entire path with an entire path.

Say you have a path x:\c3d\projectnum\subfolder and you just need to replace x: with say \\server\share so that the resulting path is \\server\share\c3d\projectnum\subfolder.  Is it possible to do this using Reference Manger?

Thank you.

Yes.  when using the Reference Manager, you can replace portions of the path, kind of like string replacement when using find and replace.

I don't have the program available right now. But I believe there is a Find/Replace that can be used. AutoCAD (Civil) sometimes had problems with UNC paths. I don't think there are any issues for Xrefs.

Well unfortunately I am not getting very far.  I drag a folder to Reference Manager and it asks about nested xrefs.  I make my selection and then it has a dialog box show x of y files and everytime, it barely gets working before it crashes.

Are there any third party products that can update the xref path for multiple files at the same time?

Thank you.

Here is the process that I have provided for my users:

Select the Start menu
Under "A" find the Autodesk folder
Within the Autodesk folder find Reference Manager
In the View menu select List by Reference Type
Click on Add drawings
Browse to the folder where your drawings are
Choose all dwg files within that folder, click Open
in the dialog that appears select Add all xrefs automatically regardless of nesting level
select Xrefs from the tree on the left
Select all the reference listed in the right window (select first one, hold down shift and select the last one)
Select Find and Replace from the toolbar above
In the Find saved path, enter the current saved path of the files you wish to modify (or click the 3 dots and browse to the current path
Under Replace with, enter the new path of the files (or click the 3 dots and browse to the new drawing folder location)
When all paths have been modified, click Apply Changes

Unfortunately I am finding that the Reference Manager tool is probably going to be useless for our needs.  We need to update paths enmasse (ie all drawings for a project at once), and it crashes whenever we try to import drawings.

Does anyone know of another tool that would work?
