Unable to paste multiple surfaces into single surface.

I want to combine various surfaces which are created by using clip boundary option in CIVIL 3D. The outer boundary of surfaces is neither connected  nor intersecting with each other. Also there is difference in elevation between respective surfaces.  If I create new surface and try to paste all the surfaces into it.  Civil 3D  fails to run the operation and gives me prompt such as error while performing operation. Please suggest any solution.

Have you run an audit on the drawing?

Hi,

A very common mistake, I recommend pasting them in batches, not all at once. And secondly, in the surface definition properties you can check whether you have any exclamation points.
If you encounter this error, I also recommend trying to change the pasting order in the surface definition.

You may have common x,y with different z value.

You can test this by extracting boundary B offset a small amount to the outside, use as hide in A, paste in B. if it works that's the issue

Hi,

If you don't mind, you could maybe share the file, it will be easier to take a closer look.

Try pasting them ONE AT A TIME.  See what happens.

I got the solution for problem.

First, I will explain problem in detail.

I wanted to separate the multiple small surfaces from one major surface. After that I wanted to combine those small separated surfaces into different surface.

Solution:

First import another copy of main surface using landxmlin command.

Then use add boundary>outer command to separate  one small surface from main surface.

Then use add boundary>show command on same surface to show the other small surfaces.

Now all these small parts will be visible in 1 single surface no need to use paste surface option.
