Ultrawide Monitor Vs. Dual Monitors

I'm looking for feedback from users who have Ultrawide monitors and are using Civil 3D and Infraworks.

1.  Do you like your Ultrawide setup better than a dual monitor setup?  Why?

2.  Are there any pitfalls to having an Ultrawide monitor?  Settings, Screen Resolution, etc.

3.  What kind of monitor do you have?

Thank you in advance for any feedback!

You might want to check this out as well: 4k-tv-as-monitor

The following is from the link that @jeff_rivers provided:

I am currently using a 49" 4K TV as my monitor. This is equivalent to a 2 x 2 grid of 24" FDH monitors.

The actual diagonal is 48.5 inches, resulting in 91 dpi. With the monitor a arms distance I find this easy to read with no DPI scaling. The screen is 23.78" high  x 42.27" wide, allowing a full size preview of Arch D size drawings.

I use Display fusion to partition it into virtual monitors My "main" virtual monitor is a 2560 x 1440, 32" diagonal, portion of the screen. This about as large as I can comfortably work with. Other applications or floating AutoCAD Windows/Pallets can occupy the unused space. I mostly work standing so my "main" monitor is at the top. I admit that the monitors on the lower part of the screen are hard to read; temporarily, I either sit down, or drag lower monitor up to a better position.

If you are considering this, I suggest that you copy the attached "4K Monitor.png"  file to a USB drive and take it to a big box store to view it on the actual TV you are consideing

I think I paid about $325 for a LG 49U6300 television.

Did you just say that you work on Civil 3D standing? I am definitely not joking or trying to be a smart**ss. I just cannot believe that!

The office desk is telescopic, sitting for a while then standing, good for the body, heart and health. 30 years sitting really starts to be a pain in the arsssss.

Yep. I shoot for a 50-50 split.

This is my somewhat more disheveled than usual home office and makeshift standing desk.

Standing:

Sitting:

Piece of cake!

When I started 50+ years ago, it was all board drafting. We did have tall stools, some with backrests. There was a lot of standing and reaching to draw on a 24" x 36" or larger sheet. We sat when doing calculations and writing reports. Only some had desks.

Times changed. There was a period when we were using computers on drafting boards. Several years later, someone invented the word ergonomics. We found him to be quite humorous.

@rl_jackson That is amazing; yes, I may be a lot younger than you, but my father was an architect, and I worked for him since I was about 12 during the early '80s. While we were transitioning to CAD, I remember drawing by hand on those huge desks, and there was a lot of standing and reaching; you are right about that. Hey, most of us could probably do much better if we stand a little more. I have flat feet, and my feet hurt a bit while standing still. I can run or walk but standing without movement takes a toll on the sole of my feet...
