Turn a rectangle in model space into a viewport

Go to your layout and create a viewport. Leave it unlocked and zoom in/out where you can see your rectangle. In ribbon panel > Express tools use Align Space. Click (inside your viewport) and select two nearest>snap spots on your rectangle. Once that is done you should default out to your layout (PS) and pick two nearest>snap spots along your viewport (VP). the view will rotate, regen, set a desired scale of VP then lock it out.
Done.
