Trial version of Civil 3D not displaying plot styles in layer manager.

I just downloaded the trial version of Civil 3D and I'm trying to set my plot styles.  When I open up my layer manager there's no plot styles column to customize.  How do I get this added back to show my plot styles.

Thank you,

Turn that column on. Right-click on any column (such as color, linetype, etc.) and a drop-down will appear where you can toggle the display of any other column.

Start a drawing template with named Plotsyles, then the layer manager shows a Column "PlotStyles" as well. Or use ConvertPstyles for existing drawings using colordependent plotstyles.

When I right click on the column the plot styles menu is greyed out and I'm unable to select it.  I followed the link you provided where it instructs you to type

"CONVERTPSTYLES" which ask me to convert my .CTB files to .STB files with CONVERTCTB.  Then it prompts me to select a plot style in .STB format which apparently I don't have any of on the trial version.

So no luck so far.

@udo I started a drawing template that I assume has named Plotsytles.  I opened "Civil 3D (Imperial) Plan only".  Once I was in the drawing template I went to the layer manager, right clicked a column and Plot Styles are still greyed out.

Additionally, I tried the ConvertPstyles as @rkmcswain and yourself mentioned, but I was unable to track down a .stb file on my trial version.

Let me know if you have any additional thoughts.  Thank you!

Was this drawing sent to you? Was it sent in a zip file like a typical eTransmit package?

Go back to the zip file. Is there an STB in the zip folder?

If you still cannot find the original STB you have a few options:

  • Contact the original sender and ask for the STB?
  • Make your own STB and create your own ‘style.’
  • Or make a CTB and use it instead of the STB.
  • Use one of the out-of-the-box default styles.
  • Don’t use a style, i.e., select NONE as the style.

But "Civil 3D (Imperial) Plan only.dwt" is a drawing template with color dependent plat styles as well. Use "acad -Named Plot Styles.dwt" to get a Plot Style Column in Layer Manager.

@Udo_Huebner That seemed to do the trick.  The only issue with that .dwt is its only showing 1 layer opposed to all the default layers that are present.

Digging into this a little further it seems I may not have been able to view the plot styles because I'm in .ctb mode.   Once I accessed the "acad - named plot styles.dwt." CAD allowed me to run CONVERTPSTYLES from ctb to stb.  It wasn't allowing me to do so prior to opening the .dwt with plot styles.

Thank you!
