Survey Points

Not applicable

Can anyone help me with survey points.  I have multiple drawings set to the same working folder with points in each drawing, how do I keep the point numbers correct? How do I keep point numbers form writing over each other when I insert them into the same drawing? To clarify the issue I need point number to start numbering from the last point in a drawing without the points being inserted into the current drawing.

Thanks

Perhaps I am not quite following you here.  If you have Drawing No 1 points ending with 10323,  In Drawing No 2 renumber points starting with 10324.  This is done by adding or subtracting "all" beginning with the lowest number in Drawing No. 2.

If you were to consider third party software and need a tool to quickly report the points used (and unused) in multiple drawings, along with details of any points duplicated (and in which files), take a look at the Point Harvest tool in C3D Point Tools.

What is the second group of points going to be used for that you don't want to add them to the drawing.

I have in the past created a new file and xrefed it to the original file. That way I can see the location of the 2nd group and not have them in the first file.

I use a survey database to view all the points in the project, but some of the points groups are from different drawings in the project. The current drawing in the project database has only the points from that drawing. I want to create new points in the current drawing but not have it overwrite the points from other groups in the database when I bring them in to that current drawing. This was not an issue in 2004 because all the points were in the project database and it would not let you write over preexisting point numbers.

If I'm understanding you correctly, they problem lies in the fact the the SDB is not linked to the drawing in Civil 3D. There totally disconnected, unlike (bad word) LDD projects.
