I've been asked by one of my engineers to report the width of an embankment at 20m sections, 1.2m below the current crest.

The embankment has been surveyed and it's width various significantly along it's length (2.0km).

I can easily create a surface at the desired elevation, and even extract a pair of 3D Polylines where the 2 meet (using _MINIMUMDISTBETWEENSURFACES) but I can't think how to report the widths of the embankment between these lines, without measuring multiple times... any suggestions people?

Thanks
JP

Hi @jim.poole,

Once you get the 3D polylines from the surface (sounds like you have them), you can convert those to alignments and then use the Horizontal Alignment Report under Toolbox reports. This should give you the horizontal widths between the crests.

@stevenh0616 thanks so much for putting me onto this.

I had to use the Alignment Relation Report to get what I was after, which seems to report in imperial units, even though all of my ambient settings are in metric. Just need to get under the hood to work out how to tweak them and I'm off!
