Subassembly Composer - creating a shoulder subassembly

I'm trying to create a shoulder subassembly in Subassembly Composer. The functions need to be the same as the "ShoulderExtendAll" subassembly that comes with C3D. The difference is that I need to add a varying width/slope for two portions of the daylight slope. Attached is a PDF to clarify matters. Also attached is my pkt file. All of the shoulder assembly seems to work properly when used for a corridor except when superelevation is added. The superelevation functions makes the corridor go awry. Any help would be much appreciated!

What version of SAC are you using? There's a couple things on the go with this one. Getting a better understanding of version used, I may be able to offer some insight. Thank you.

Dear Barrb,
I also couldnt open your PKT file and there was no PDF attachment to your post, how ever if i understand you correctly a good solution for variable links is intersection point as you can see in mentioned screen shot, by the way dont forget to activate the link extention.

also about the variable slope you can define a formula by variability of your road elevation from ground surface.

I'm using SAC 2016. It seems that the superelevation is the root problem.

Hi Mehdicad,

 

Thank you for your suggestion. I'm using SAC 2016. I re-attached the zipped pkt file, and a jpg depicting the issues.

 

After doing some trouble shooting, I've fixed some of the issues and narrowed down the problem. The jpg should help clarify the matter.

Dear Blaine,

Unfortunately I don’t have SAC 2016 to see your PKT file, as I see your attached jpg file if the white line does not get the correct Super elevation:

  1. You can define the super elevation as slope parameter by This code SE.LeftLI  (LeftLI should change according to your SE type) see screen shot
  2. Define the Delta X value to some small value (For example 0.3)
  3. Define an intersection point and extend the link as I explained in last post

Don’t forget to change the superelevation to None

 

 the other type of super elevation which you will need

 

LeftLIReturn left lane inside superelevation slope. 
LeftLOReturn left lane outside superelevation slope. 
LeftSIReturn left shouder inside superelevation slope. 
LeftSOReturn left shouder outside superelevation slope. 
RightLIReturn right lane inside superelevation slope. 
RightLOReturn right lane outside superelevation slope. 
RightSIReturn right shouder inside superelevation slope. 
RightSOReturn right shouder outside superelevation slope.

 And the rest of process will be in civil 3d I mean the superelevation calculation which you assigned to your alignment (the SAC will read the input data from alignment super elevation Not Preview values)

Hi Mehdi,

 

Thank you for taking the time to help me! After troubleshooting the subassembly many, many, many times, I've concluded that the Subassembly Composer has a  glitch with an aspect of the superelevation feature. The shoulder subassembly looks and functions properly when the grade is changed manually; i.e., from -2% to +2% or +3%. However, once superelevation is added to the shoulder subassembly, the Daylight Slope and Subbase grade don't function together, one always overrides the other. So either the slope is correct; i.e., 4:1 slope, and the subbase grade is incorrect, or vice versa. I sent it a report to AutoCAD about the issue and will leave it at that.
