Structure Profile Connected Pipes display at insertion point instead of connection point

I recently downloaded a free trial to autodesk inventor because I got tired of not being able to use the connection point feature on my inlet boxes.  I even modeled most of the PennDOT standard structures and was quite pleased with my Type-C which was built with the insertion point at the gutterline instead of center of structure so i could snap it right to my bottom of curb feature lines.  That was until I looked at the profile view and saw that the connected pipes don't actual show at their connection points and default to the insertion point of the structure.  Now everything looks off center in profile view but looks perfect in plan and 3d Model.  Is there an easy fix for this in Civil3D? or did I mess something up in inventor.

You probably didn’t mess up the Inventor model. What you are seeing is more likely a Civil 3D profile-display behavior/limitation.

Civil 3D does support custom connection points on structures, and Autodesk specifically says those connection points define where pipes connect.

The important part is that structure insertion point and pipe connection point are treated separately in profile views. Autodesk states that structures in profile are located based on the structure insertion point, while connected pipes can be displayed from the structure style.

What I would check

In your Type-C, keeping the insertion point at the gutterline is actually a good approach for your plan/3D workflow.

The first thing I'd check is the Structure Style → Display settings and make sure connected pipes in Profile/Section are enabled. Civil 3D can display the connected pipe at the level where it actually meets the structure.

If the actual pipe geometry is being displayed in the profile rather than the structure's connected-pipe representation, Civil 3D may still use the pipe/structure's projected geometry in a way that makes the connection look wrong.

So I would not immediately rebuild the Inventor part. Your connection-point setup sounds fundamentally correct.
