Here are the profile view bands in Storm and Sanitary, bands include Max Q and Max V values.

How do I transfer these values to pipes in a Civil 3D pipe network?

Hi Wendy... the second link pointed out the problem I am referring to

See... only energy and hydraulic grade line info is transferred from SSA - via STM - to Civil 3D pipes. Q and V values - even though available in SSA, are not transferred to Civil 3D pipes - the responder refers to missing "placeholder" - probably in Civil 3D pipe objects. Typing in the values can lead to many errors in the production drawings - there must be another way?

Hi @kevin.bza,

 

Thanks for the feedback. I researched this internally and found that the Q and V values can be calculated in Storm and Sanitary Analysis. Unfortunately, these values are not transferred to Civil 3D. The Hydraflow Storm Sewers file (.STM) as the interop format – but this does not store computed Q.  Instead it stores the data to compute flow (i.e. catchment area, TOC, runoff coefficients, etc.)  The STM file does store velocity – at both the up and down end of each pipe… but Civil 3D does not store velocity as a property.  Therefore, neither value comes back to Civil 3D.

see attached DWG ... I am trying to use Property Set values to represent Q and V (from SSA) - as C3D Pipes do not have placeholders for Q and V - it works correctly with pipe labels in plan ... but we need those values in a Profile View Band... I dont mind if its a Profile Data band or pipe network band ... Please help!   : (

Use an expression to create velocity and flow. See this article for. building the expression for flow, Q

See these threads. 

After you've the expressions, use Pipe Profile Bands instead and have it displayed in the profile band.
