Spinning blue wheel cursor...

Recently my C3D 2016 cursor has started to flash back and forth between the normal crosshairs and the spinning blue wheel indicating it's busy, even though no commands are active; it never stops this annoying action. Additionally, if I make some changes in corridor parameters, the cursor blows up and becomes an almost nonstop blue wheel. (There are no lag or delay issues.)

I read a post where changing the Toolspace Settings to "Master View" solves this problem, but I always keep it in Master View, so that didn't help.

Anyone else experiencing this?

This worked for me too. You can toggle view in the drop down at the top of the  Toolspace menu in the Prospector tab.

Hi Jerry,

It sounds like this issue could be caused by outdated graphics card drivers or a corrupt AutoCAD profile specific to your environment. Here are a couple of things to try:

  • Update your graphics card drivers- Link
  • Turn off hardware acceleration in Civil 3D- Link
  • Create a new local administrator Windows user profile, log in, and try again- Link

This was my fix. Had to be in prospector tab of toolspace to change to master view.

It seems these same symptoms may occur when opening a *.DWG that is stored in a synced folder from SharePoint/OneDrive, and has a file path that exceeds Microsoft's character limit.

The solution, in this case, is simply to reduce the length of the file path. This is done either by renaming the file, or it's containing folder(s), to be shorter.
