Specifying the Section Elevation Range

Hi,

I'm running off some sections and seem to be struggling to do some simple tasks. I want my sections to be at a particular elevation range, between 2.5m to 5m. The default elevation range is -2.5m to 7.5m which doesn't seem to tie in with any data on the model. 

Below is an example of the section with default elevation.

Selecting each individual section and view properties I can amend the elevation range as below.

 But i can't then match the properties of this section to the remainder of the sections and if I look at View Group Properties, it doesn't give me the ability to set a user specified elevation range.

Can any one help me find a quicker way to update these section so that they all have the correct elevation range?

Is it possible that due to setting some section view properties that now you can't set a group property user specified range?

perhaps, I'm not sure. Will need to try a new set of sections to see if there is something in the original setup.

Section view GROUPS do not have such a setting.

You can manualy change each one, but not all of them. At least not without workarounds. Still boggled as to WHY they would design it like that. Ok, most of the time "automatic" is preferred, maybe, but give us an optios...

Anyhow, if you want your sections to be all the same, sometimes I create a surface that i won't display anywhere, at a specific elevation, but would sample it with the group.

Then, follow a section, set your height, see what you get.

If it's too tall, play with (get this logic, it's fun) vertical axis grid spacing. I think it's tied to major lines. SO, in your case, you would likley set your major steps to 2.5m

Ran into the exact same issue and hacked this little Dynamo-script together which does the trick:

This is very basic as it does the changes for all section views in the drawing but it could be easily refined to only take a selection.

Perfect - to get you started, here's a quick tutorial:

- Open your drawing in Civil3d that contains the section views and in the "Manage"-tab click on "Dynamo".

- Open the Dynamo-script that I'm attaching in this post.

- Zoom to the "Choose Object Type"-Node and select "Section View" (I'm on the german version and the translation sometimes messes up the default.)

- In the code-blocks you can set the max and min elevation.

- Hit "Run" in the bottom left corner and check, if your section views updated!

This worked really well, thank you. I have never tried Dynamo before, definitely going to have to investigate it further.
