Slow loading slow plotting Collecting Resources Importing Resources

Hello,

I have done a lot of searching and do not see anything like I have been experiencing. Drawing are EXTREMELY SLOW loading, and especially plotting. In the lower left corner of the screen I get the status bar (see pic) and it first says "Collecting resources" then "importing resources" then "synchronizing references".  Our drawings are set up as the survey is a separate draweing file. Then the engineering base has the survey x-ref'd into that for the background. Plan and Profile sheets are created out of the engineering base as separate files. They did not used to be this slow. Maybe 5 minutes or more for each sheet to plot and open. I don't remember seeing the status of drawings in the past, or at least they were fast enough I never noticed. Any ideas?

I just did a study with Autodesk about this a couple of weeks ago. They are fully aware of the issue with this. Make sure you are running the latest update 2020.5.2. And if you have surfaces that are data referenced, change them to Reference Only...

Thanks for the reply. I did not know about the option to set the surface to reference only. I will check this as soon as my computer finishes plotting.  Thank you!

Is there any way to set this so it will default to reference only? Like when you output sheets and tag surfaces to be included as data shortcuts? Thanks

So do you have any idea WHAT resources it is gathering, importing, etc?

Changed those settings, only had 2 surfaces. No difference in load time. Any additional ideas to try? I reinstalled Civil 3D last week but that made no difference either. Just can't figured what changed.
