slow civil 3d

My computer has "AMD RADEON HD 8790M" graphics card which I don't think is certified by autodesk, could this be the reason my drawings take forever when switching from model to paper space. Also when I select layer properties it takes a really long time for the dialog box to open up. the purge commend takes minutes. the files I am working with are not very large 1 to 4 meg. I am getting so tired of sitting and waiting on everything, half the time I forget what I was going to do it takes so long. any help appreciated.

16mb ram

hybrid disk drive (company will not spend money on a solid disk drive)

IS this every drawing file, including a new, empty one?

I suspect your data files are bloated. Can you post one here (zipped up)?

You are right about your video card, but this alone is not going to cause significant slow downs.

  I am afraid I would get in trouble if I posted the file, confidentiality is tight here. I also read were a remote download of the software causes issues, my installation was done remotely as well and of course my biggest problem is I am allotted no time to troubleshoot, suppose to be billable and we have an IT department with 1000's of geeks but I have yet to find one who knows or admits to knowing anything about autocad, last time I wasted a whole day and got nothing accomplished, just one of my many frustrating days were I thought I would take a minute and hope for a quick fix.
