Simulation Period in civil 3d SSA

Hello,

Hope that all of you are doing well.

First of all, thank you on all the help & support.

Second, Actually i am quite new in civil 3d SSA, in fact i already started 1 month ago in experiencing such important software & especially in storm water drainage network design.

i just have a small question, there is a simulation period command in the analysis options

which i do not know its purpose & why i have to assign a simulation period before i perform the analysis (or) what does that mean.

Thanks in advance.

SSA is time-based simulation software, so everything done in SSA results in a hydrograph. Therefore it needs a time period to run the flow-over-time simulation.

If you're trying to get peak flow calculations using HEC-22 standard-step methodology, then the tools in Civil 3D will be better suited.

Ok, So you mean that i shall put the duration of the storm drainage network that is designed for right?

At least that long, yes. But longer is probably better. For example, let's say you're designing for a one-hour storm...you may want to set the simulation period longer than one hour so you can how retention facilities will drain. There may be other reasons too, this is just an example.
