I have a file from a surveyor that is a 20gb .sid file. I would like to open it in AutoCAD LT. Can I do this? I also have the .sdw .sid.xml  .sid.aux.xml do I need these too?

Hi Natalie,

Unfortunately Autocad LT cannot handle SID files.

See the link here for more details - https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-lt-forum/sid-file/td-p/2537367

That being said, Civil 3D can (sort of).

Information at tthis link may help you, otherwise try searching the forums here, or through Google.

Have you tried Feature Data Object Connection (FDO)?

First, set your modelspace coordinate system. Second, switch to Planning and Analysis workspace. Then go to Home tab=>data panel=>Connect icon.

In the Data Connect palette, go to Add Raster Image=>Image icon=>Browse to and select MrSID file=>Open=>Connect=>Add to Map (be patient, it may take a few seconds, or more).

1-Data Connect palette=>Image icon.1-Data Connect palette=>Image icon.2-Browse to and select MrSID file=>Open=>Connect=>Add to Map.2-Browse to and select MrSID file=>Open=>Connect=>Add to Map.3-Alternatively you may use MAPIINSERT.3-Alternatively you may use MAPIINSERT.

You can also use MAPIINSERT command. Insert tab=>Image panel=>Image icon.
