SHOW OR EXTRACT CONTOUR LINES FROM A GRID SURFACE

C3D NOOBIE.

I'm working through Civil 3d and have utilzed the Autodesk RECAP to convert some laz files to rcp.

Then uploaded the cloud file into C3D to create a DEM using mapcreatepcsurface.

I end up with this nice grid surface of the area, but cannot figure out how to extract or actuate the contour lines.

Been searching videos on line for similar subject, but maybe I'm just trying to get something that is not there.

I know in corridor it can be done and extracted, but for some reason this is evading me.

Glad to see you got your project worked out.  We added notes about the blocking and related things to the blog post.  We added the width height thickness to the label and it zooms to extents of all LAS/LAZ files selected when it's done drawing them (download again if you need these things).  In case anybody missed it, the rectangle has thickness in 3D to shows the elevation extents.

What I dont get it. 

I've recently HAD to upgrade to 2018 because of file format issues.

Now I cant import LAS files like I use to, because . . . . . . it was broken?

Do I need to install a 3rd party program now to get contours from my LAS files I've has for years?

If it's any comfort, that developer has been in business nearly as long as Autodesk (30 years), has been a Autodesk Registered Developer (over 25 years) and the program is free.

Sorry for replying so late, I actually want to ask a question. I used Recap to convert the point cloud (.LAS) file to a .RCS file. I successfully pulled it into C3D and created a surface from it. My question is how do I switch off all the millions of points, since it doesn't seem like the point cloud has a display option anymore and you also can't select all to move it so a layer and switch it off. Any solution?
